Forty Hall Family Photography | Wincey, Vava & Family
This Forty Hall family photography session was in the middle of summer and is one of my favourites sessions to date, mainly because of the enthusiasms and excitement Wincey, Vava and their kids had about having their photos taken. They had taken some of my 10 tips on preparing for a family photoshoot and chose colours that worked well on each one of them. What I remember most is their joyfulness, big smiles and burst of laughter, it was really infectious. Wincey and Vava chose a lovely location in Forty Hall and Estate, a beautiful manor house in Enfield, north London; with beautiful landscapes and large woodlands for walking with the family. It also has a gorgeously designed garden, which was perfect for the picnic the family had planned. Though this shoot was nearly two hours, the time went by so quickly. I has so much fun getting to know the family whilst helping them documenting a small period of their lives to treasure for years to come. I too have two your girls (13 and 5 at the point of writing this) and I can’t believe how fast they’ve grown; so capturing them at this young age was important to them. Check out the highlights of their photo session below.
Forty Hall & Estate is a special place
Forty Hall is a Grade I listed Jacobean Manor House built in 1632 and located in the leafy suburbs of Enfield, north London. With its fine building architecture and stunning period rooms, it is surrounded by 273 acres of gorgeous woodland for family and kids to explore. It also has a permanent exhibition for all families to engage with learning its history; plus a guided tour, a gift shop and the Nice Green Cafe for you and your family to relax and unwind after long explorative walks through its gardens and parklands. One of the things I also love about Forty Hall Estate is that it feels like it’s miles away from the city and outside London in the countryside. It is in fact part of the London Metropolitan Green Belt.
The best features of Forty Hall
Its best feature has to be it’s 18th century landscape and includes a ornamental lake, medieval fishing pond, streams, a beautiful walled garden, kid playground, lakes, lawns and meadows. It also has one of the oldest Cedar of Lebanon trees in England, which I took a photo of the family under it. I really loved the way the sunset light shone on the seating area by the lake and is one of my favourite photos captured, out of the 138 photos I delivered to the family.
Photography in and around the estate
If your family loves exploring the outdoors, Forty Hall and Estate is home to some incredible wildlife and habitats. It has some great sceneries for your family photography and a perfect place for picnics. I can help you capture great photos of your family playing in the kids playground, which has a climbing frame and a zip wire (which is a lot of fun) and a small seating area. You can even hire bikes to get around the park, see the rivers and the wildlife and keep fit at the same time.
